We avoided the rain and had a great night at the laundromat! Thank you to Jean Hoff and Diane Dahl who provided snacks to munch on and Bethany Lutheran of Howard for the wonderful draw string laundry bags which were a big hit! Thanks also to all of you who have donated cash and quarters to fund these laundry nights. We couldn’t do it without all of you!
I would imagine that most of you reading this are like me, and when you need to wash some clothes you simply walk to your laundry room and throw them into the washing machine. And maybe, like me, you haven’t been in a laundromat for a while. Well, the washing machines at the laundromat cost anywhere from $3 to $6.50! Just imagine trying to do your family’s laundry at these prices if you are a single parent, making minimum wage and trying to pay for rent, utilities and food. A mom I talked to last night said she had $5 to her name and planned to use it for milk for her family. I’m so thankful we could be there for her so she could provide clean clothes for her children! We are church together with the neighbor.
We are so excited that First Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls has offered to sponsor Laundry with Love in July. They will provide the quarters, snacks, and volunteers for both dates in July. Thank you First Lutheran!
