April 2023 Prayers
Dear Church on the Street Family,
Happy Easter! He is risen! Alleluia! (The season of Easter lasts for 50 days, so it's still appropriate to celebrate!)
Easter worship at Church on the Street was amazing, with so many partners coming together to be Church together!
In September, when I realized we got to have our Easter worship on the Saturday before Easter, I was simultaneously excited for the day and perplexed about who could bring volunteers and a meal. Bishop Constanze Hagmaier and the South Dakota Synod showed up with the meal, and brought nearly 100 volunteers from around our state! Pastor Jeff Sorenson donated the beef that turned into sloppy joes because St Dysmas paid for the sauce, and the sloppy joes were prepared in the kitchen at St Francis House by Pastor Jeff and Marnie Backer's family. Volunteers included folks serving on synod committees, partners from congregations near and far, plus our precious ecumenical partners.
Our faithful ministry partners, Journey of Hope and Faith Through Frames, showed up to bless folks. Heartland Ephatha and Augustana University ASL provided translators. Peace Lutheran Church gathered eggs for the hunt. Hy-Vee sent a message to ask if they could donate lilies. I've told this story a million times, but it's a story that describes what it is to be church together.
When we say, "It's great to be Church together!" we really mean it!
The next time we worship, we'll be in the park! Alleluia!

Cova McBride: I want to request you pray for my family and friends and help them with their struggles with addiction. To bless us with the strength we need to get us through this time of struggle.
Karla Rivers: Prayers for my neighbor Joshua. Prayer for myself to be sober. My daughter Darcy for drugs. For Angel, he is in Yankton Prison. He goes before the parole board May 8th. Prayers for Dawson in Yankton. He’s still in Redfield. Prayers for Julie in Yankton HSC. I don’t know if she’s getting touched. Prayers for Tanner my grandson. He got arrested. He was in prison on the hill for 7 years. Prayers for strength and guidance.
Michael: Prayers for Michael and Chase and all and everyone and the host that hasn’t been guided. A special request that myself and Chase is reunited again as we’re separated by my own means. I have wandered astray from The Lord, absorbing myself in the world and alcohol, I pray that I have my sin removed from me and my life so I can serve The Lord and keep Chase in my life. Thank you.
Anonymous: Lyle, needs prayers for safety, The Lord knows what’s going on. All prayer for prison bullies. Forgive them Lord cause they don’t know you, protect the inmates that need protection, Prayer for all who are addicted to meth, help them Lord. Thank you Jesus.
Linda: Prayers for myself? Hopefully it’s not selfish. Going through a lot of turmoil and chaos in my personal life. Wish for guidance from The Lord up above. Please don’t let me to be like these very people. Keep my humble most of all. In Jesus name, Amen

Heather Lyn: A lot goes on where I live and my landlord is now using me and James and harrassing me. Prayer for protection. Me N James both have been physically assaulted and we are looking for a house to rent. Pray for that as well, amen amen, amen.

Carolyne Williams and Ray Dilton: We are homeless and need a place to live, we are not having any luck finding an apartment or house to live. Please pray that I get a job soon. Dillon lives on disability and I am also disabled.
Paige and Godrrey: prayers for Alcicita and Raymond. My tiny loves are going to be adopted by a family who loves them. We love them too much to allow harm so we send this prayer for guidance and strength to God to protect them forever.
