Meet the team behind Church on the Street—a dedicated group of staff members, lay leaders, and Steering Committee volunteers who share a passion for serving our community. Our staff helps guide the mission and daily work, while lay leaders bring energy, compassion, and leadership to our gatherings and outreach. Together with our Steering Committee, they provide vision, support, and accountability to ensure we remain rooted in faith, hospitality, and care for all.

Pastor Chris Matson - She/Her

Lead Pastor
Pastor Chris is passionate about sharing God's love with people from all walks of life. She relishes building community by hearing what God is up to in the lives of those she meets, sharing a word of prayer, and finding ways to meet needs with the abundant resources God provides. Pastor Chris is an Ordained Pastor in the ELCA committed to working with ecumenical and interfaith partners, and a Mission Developer.

Mara Stillson - She/Her

Deacon
Deacon Mara is passionate about exploring God’s mysterious and limitless love through relationships, creation, the arts, and countless other ways. She recently completed her Master’s Degree in Justice and Reconciliation from Luther Seminary and continues to live out the promises made for her in baptism to strive for justice and peace in the world. Mara is a mother, spouse, musician, communicator, and runner who loves broccoli and tofu more than your average person.

Director of Media Ministries
After participating in a few mission trips (to Philadelphia and Seattle) as a youth leader at my home church, I realized there was a need in our community where I could help spread the love of Jesus. I found that in helping with Church on the Street. Since joining over seven years ago, I have been honored to hear the amazing stories from members and help serve the remarkable mission of COTS.

Director of Music Ministries
Music has always been an important part of my life, and I feel like I have been blessed to be able to take on various instruments over the years. Playing or singing in church is something that I have been a part of since I was a kid, and is something that I look forward to continuing. I am excited to be able to contribute to the Church on the Street services in any way I can, but especially worshiping through music.
