May 2023 Prayers

Dear Church on the Street Family,

May is Mental Health Awareness, and thanks to our partners, Journey of Hope, we spent the month getting the word out! From worship bags to wristbands and many giveaways from the Helpline Center, we continue to share the lifesaving word that 9-8-8, the Suicide Prevention and Crisis Support Line, is available for texts or calls.

I want to share the adapted litany from our May worship.
We name truth,
that God will help us dispel ignorance and misinformation about major depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, severe anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

We name understanding,
that the darkness of stigma, labels, exclusion and marginalization might be dispelled for the sake of those touched by mental illness.

We name hope, for persons and families living with mental illness, for better treatment, for steadier recovery, and for greater opportunity to work and serve.

We name thankfulness,
for compassionate, dedicated caregivers and mental health professionals; for new discoveries in brain research and better medications.

We name faith,
to dispel doubt and despair for those who have lost hope and are discouraged.

We name God is love,
who loves us no matter who we are, what medications we take, what our diagnoses are, or where we are on life’s journey. Amen.

Thank you for praying with us and for all the ways you care for yourself and God's people. You are a blessing!

It's great to be Church together!
