December 2023 Prayers

Dear Church on the Street Family,

You'll find many photos from our Christmas worship in this newsletter, and we give thanks for the opportunity to celebrate the birth of our Savior together. Hundreds of quilts were donated to us to keep folks warm, and everyone got a stocking to celebrate. Steve Johnson and friends with Faith Through Frames took Christmas pictures that went home with those who attended worship.

During these days after Christmas, the reality that winter is here begins to set in, and we wonder what difference Christmas makes. Howard Thurman says it best in his poem from The Mood of Christmas and Other Celebrations.

"When the song of the angels is stilled,
when the star in the sky is gone,
when the kings and princes are home,
when the shepherds are back with their flocks,
the work of Christmas begins:
to find the lost,
to heal the broken,
to feed the hungry,
to release the prisoner,
to rebuild the nations,
to bring peace among the people,
to make music in the heart."

It's now that the gift of Christmas sends us out to do the work of Christmas together. There's plenty to do and so many partners to share the load (especially with Health and Healing coming on February 3). Thank you for being one of them and for your continuing prayers and support.

It's great to be Church together!

Pastor Chris

Please lift these prayer requests, given to us with the great trust and hope of a promise, that God answers prayers.
